During the first public workshop of the Franco-German research project MERCI ("MERCI stands for “Media and Event Production via Resilient Communication on IoT Infrastructure”) several DECT NR+ demonstrators were supported by RFmondial’s technology.
In late 2023 RFmondial got the task to replace a malfunctioning Transradio DMOD3, which was feeding a Continental Electronics short-wave transmitter located at Kajang site. This traditional Malaysian site can be heard since the 1970’s all around the world and it stands out with its massive antenna masts located south of Kuala Lumpur.
For many years, RFmondial has advanced the ITU digital radio standard Digital Radio Mondiale (DRM) and provided high quality transmission equipment including modulators. With the latest developments, a cost effective and spectrum efficient method has been integrated in RFmondial’s modulator line LV, namely DRM multichannel.
For many years, RFmondial has proven to deliver high performance measurement and monitoring equipment for digital radio standards DAB and DRM. With the latest developments, analogue standards FM and AM can be included into the measurement devices. The system can decode up to 4 RF inputs and an unlimited number of distribution-streams (EDI or MDI) – all streams, all services, all audio, all data, all in parallel.
The research project AI4Mobile (AI-supported mobile communication systems for mobility in industry and transport) has successfully come to an end. The project was funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) with 5.1 million euros as part of the German federal government's high-tech strategy in the field of "Artificial Intelligence in Communication Networks". In order to modernize mobile communications systems and networks for future use, AI4Mobile focused on the development of innovative artificial intelligence and machine learning methods.

The DRM Consortium proved the great audio and data transmission qualities of the DRM standard in both AM and FM bands by running a low-power transmitter on site. The enhanced service of using one shared transmitter and one antenna to deliver up to 18 audio programmes plus up to 6 dedicated Journaline text services on DRM in FM band was shown with the support of RFmondial and Fraunhofer IIS on mobile devices, standalone and car receivers on show there.
BBC and Encompass have been transmitting DRM for testing the distribution of audio, text and graphics in parts of the world where the internet is not available.
The broadcast has been transmitted via a shortwave RIZ transmitter, which has been upgraded by RFmondial’s DRM Exciter LVe to be capable of performing DRM as best as possible.
On Wednesday 29 June 2022, ABC, the public broadcaster, and the Australian network operator BAI hosted a demonstration of Digital Radio Mondiale (DRM) on both AM and FM in Wangaratta, a location in the state of Victoria with the support of the DRM Consortium and some of its key members, including RFmondial.

As recent events have shown in the event of a disaster, broadcasting coverage in particular is an essential building block for informing citizens, since mobile phone networks are usually the first to fail. In order to increase the reliability of the broadcast an alternative distribution must be used during standard link failure (land-based lines in the event of flooding or satellite reception in the event of storms).
